The receiver is notched to accept 50 or 100 round drum magazines. The gun has many of the features found on pre-war Colt and wartime Auto-Ordnance and Savage Model 1928/1928A1 Thompson Submachine guns including: an unmarked Cutts type compensator, finned barrel, bolt actuator mounted in the top of the receiver adjustable, folding leaf, rear sight and detachable buttstock. The gun has a blue finish with straight grain American walnut stock, forearm and pistol grip. This gun duplicates the pre-war military version of the Colt/Auto-Ordnance Model 1928 Navy Over-Stamp Thompson that was purchased in small numbers by the Navy, Marine Corps and Army. Are parts available for my West Hurley A-O Model 1911? Stokes still works for Numrich as Bob Lippman emailed me that he does?ģ. Stokes supervision and hence its quality? I am wondering if my gun was manufactured under Mr. He found out that the gun was manufactured under the supervision of Jerry Stokes and hence, the high quality of guns during the mid 90s. But the gun he reviewed changed his mind completely. He also started out with a very low view of A-O guns. So, I did some more looking and found an review by Dean Speir of the pre-Kahr A-O 1911A1. But overall the gun handles very well and shoots great. It has a flawless Parkerized finish, very smooth internal milling, the slide has a very slight play if you really work at it. I did some research on various forums and pretty much read only trash talk about A-O firearms. I took it out a couple of months ago and right out of the box it shot 2-3" groups at 15-20 feet. I purchased the M1911 and it sat in my closet unused for the last 17 years. The serial number is E 05552 and I purchased it in January 1994. I have a couple of questions re: my West Hurley A-O M1911.ġ. Your pistol is one of several dozen aftermarket versions of the Colt Goverment Model and while a good servicable is nothing special in the aftermarket world Custom parts for it at both drop-ins and gunsmithing required These parts require a frame cut and a hole in the slot.the FP also differs. I(f you pull up the online schematic of the Colt "O frame" on this site.you are looking for parts:-31.-57 in the frame and -10 and -33 in the slide. You have to press in the aforementioned plunger and hold it there to get the FP to move. With the slide in this position.you should NOT be able to push the FP forward and have it extend from the slide face. With the slide pulled back and locked to the rear you can see the plunger protruding from the underside of the slide. This part will depress a plunger mounted in the slide that is a firing pin block. There are parts for this mounted in the reciever.the RH rear and is visable as a "finger" that levers up when the trigger is pulled rearward.
#Auto ordnance thompson serial number lookup series
The series 70(and prior versions) do not have the firing pin block parts. The exceptions will be on those models that differ from a standard model(the short barrel versions, mainly) The major difference between a series 70 and a series 80 has to do with Lawyer added parts. Your pistol is a clone of the government model 1911A1 pistol and those parts,GI,Colt or aftermarket will fit your pistol.
